The charming village of Santa Gertrudis has expanded rapidly through carefully over the last few years. The pedestrian-friendly main plaza is dotted with hip cafe bars and restaurants as well as traditional, family-run Ibicenco establishments. The artistic influence is everywhere with hanging art competing with hanging hams in Bar Costa. There are some lovely galleries, arts and craft shops and an eclectic mix of clothing and accessories.

In the buzzy Ibiza Town, the pavements of the pretty Old Town and the trendy new marina are sprinkled with swanky bars and world-class restaurants. Ibiza Town is romantic, historic and intriguing as well as vibrant and cosmopolitan. The gay-friendly back streets of Sa Penya come alive in the evenings with a multitude of colourful guests and residents. Clubbers flock to the renowned nightclubs to dance the night away. Foodies and history buffs will love the annual Eivissa Medieval Festival three-day event which takes place in May. It celebrates the anniversary of the town’s UNESCO World Heritage listing and fills Dalt Vila with delicious food stands, arts, crafts and performances. The ancient walled fortress of Dalt Vila is a treasure trove of narrow, cobbled streets brimming with cathedrals, chapels, churches, museums and flower-adorned balconies. After a few hours meandering the attractive streets, you can chill out and soak in the sun on the long, golden stretch of sand at Playa den Bossa, Ibiza’s own version of South Beach!

For a calm and peaceful beach day, you can head to the lovely resort of Cala Llonga. It is a mini-resort with a magnificent silver sanded beach and a good selection of shops and restaurants. Close by is Santa Eulalia with its elegant yacht harbour and beautiful, palm-lined promenade running the length of the beach. Santa Eulalia is Ibiza’s third largest resort and has a long-established reputation as the island’s gastronomic and cultural centre. The fortified 16th-century church of Puig de Missa presides over the town from a hill above.
