When visiting Barbados, the first thing you are sure to notice are the gorgeous and renowned flat white sand beaches. On the west coast of Barbados, miles of coral shore beaches and fine white sands stretch along a hypnotising turquoise sea. The West Coast of Barbados is also fringed with countless breath-taking Coral Reefs to provide excellent snorkelling and scuba diving opportunities. The South Coast also offers something for everyone, and is a curious mixture of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. Here you can swim in calm waters, snorkel over the inshore reefs and tidal pools, and at the southernmost tip of the island, you can windsurf. The Rose of Sharon is conveniently located only over a mile south of Holetown, having easy access to a great choice of amenities. Whether you visit the centre to shop for local arts and crafts or to experience the local nightlife at First and Second streets – where the buzz is at –, there is plenty to see and do! After an afternoon swimming in the sparkling turquoise waters, a dinner at the beachfront restaurant The Tides is highly recommended, where you can enjoy the best lobster tail in Barbados! If you are lucky enough to stay in the Rose of Sharon during the month of February, make sure to experience the Holetown Festival, which commemorates the anniversary of the first settlement of Barbados at Holetown in February 1627. It is one of the biggest festivities of the area, and it showcases from concerts, to exhibitions to street parades. It can’t be missed!
