Sa Caleta beach is only 6km away from Villa Apio. The picturesque bay is backed by dramatic red cliffs and possesses sparklingly clear waters that are wonderful for snorkelling.
The waters are quite shallow making it ideal for kids to swim in and the beach boasts a brilliant restaurant of the same name. The venue attracts visitors through its delicious array of Mediterranean cuisine and fresh seafood – you must try the paella!
Sa Caleta is great for those who wish to discover more of the island’s history and culture as it is home to the first Phoenician settlement on the island. This was declared a world heritage site in 1999 and dates all the way back to 654 BCE. The site is completely free and easy to look around and you can discover intriguing remains from this bygone era.
Boasting an array of sunbeds, parasols and even the opportunity to be massaged, Sa Caleta is an oasis of tranquil relaxation and it’s easy to spend the entire day here enjoying the sun.
This stunning beach location is also famed for its wonderful healing red clay found at the base of the cliffs. You can create a soothing face and body masks from mixing the clay with water which is said to result in lovely smooth skin.
The quaint village of San Jordi is only ten minutes away and is centred around its picturesque church. Centuries ago, the church was used to protect the village against pirate attacks. Today, it is the main attraction in San Jordi.
