The peaceful village of Son Macià lies around 8km south of Manacor on Mallorca’s eastern side. This makes it as convenient for the town as it is for the coast, with a line-up of beautiful beaches waiting to be discovered not much further away.
Son Macià itself has a pleasant central square where you can sit and enjoy a drink or meal from one of the bars or restaurants. Surrounded by tranquil countryside, the village lies around 11km west of Cala Romantica, a family-friendly white sand beach with rugged cliffs and shallow waters. Just up the coast, you may also enjoy Cala Mendia or the resort of Porto Cristo, which has both a zoo and water-sports school.
Manacor is the second-largest town on the island, known for its industriousness and its imitation pearls. A popular town like this has no shortage of dining options, and plenty of historical interest as well – while keen walkers will want to make their mark on the scenic Via Verde.
