The medieval town of Seggiano is delightful with rosemary and irises peeking out from ancient stone walls and quaint flower-adorned cottages lining the streets. The four churches are worth a visit and there is also an olive oil museum to explore. There is a supermarket, bank, pharmacy, post office, high-quality restaurants and bars all in town.
Castel del Piano is a mountain village with a tiny medieval town tucked away at its centre where there are streets narrow enough to shake hands across. Boasting robust authentic mountain food, try the veal with truffles.
