San Jose is a lovely village, just a 10-minute drive away where life runs at a more leisurely pace than other places on the island.
The picturesque village is home to the highest point on the island, Sa Talaia as well as a beautiful church with bells that still ring at eight every morning. Taking a seat in the church’s courtyard is a pleasant way to spend your morning while admiring the marvellous scenery and watching villagers go about their days.
A tempting selection of bars and restaurants serving traditional dishes with tasty cocktails provide wonderful watering holes. Some venues even boast live music and performances including flamenco.
Small boutiques can be found in the village selling traditional ceramics, clothes and toys, which will all make brilliant souvenirs. There’s also an ecological food and craft market featuring stalls selling organic and homemade food, artworks and sculptures.
Ibiza Town is reachable via a 25-minute drive and one of its main attractions is the mesmerising Ibiza Cathedral. Located right at the top of the magical Dalt Vila, the cathedral stands gloriously, showing off its gorgeous Gothic architecture which was first constructed during the 14th century.
Reached by a short trek up the stairs, the stunning views over the sea are well worth the walk up. The building became a cathedral during the 18th century and various artworks can be admired once you step through its doors.
