location

A holiday in Cyprus is bound to be an unforgettable experience. The island is encircled with gorgeous white sand beaches, soaring mountains and dotted with ancient ruins. Further inland, there's fantastic hiking and history, culture and delicious cuisine around every corner.

This villa is hidden away in a coastal village called Kapparis on the eastern coast of Cyprus. Just five minutes from a picturesque, unspoilt beach with crystal clear waters, Kapparis is also close to lots of bars, shops and restaurants. There are other villas within the complex, so guests are able to enjoy their privacy yet still have the opportunity to meet other guests.

A larger resort, Protaras, is a five-minute drive away. There are international restaurants, lively bars, and Protaras is also home to watersports mecca beach Fig Tree Bay. Named after its lone pine tree, this beach has sparkling waters, golden sand and Hellenic tombs that soar above it. Fig Tree Bay also has a fantastic array of aqua-based activities like windsurfing, waterskiing and paragliding. Delightfully picturesque, it's one of the most famous beaches in the area for a reason.

Nissi beach is also a great choice in the nearby vicinity - this paradise beach has sugary soft white sand and swirling blue and green sea - perfect for scuba diving and snorkelling around the coral reef. Here you can watch marine life thrive in its natural habitat. You can also try watersports here.

Take a day trip to Paphos to discover more about the culture and history of the island. With incredibly well preserved Roman ruins with intricate mosaics and the Tombs of the Kings, it's a great place to learn about one of the oldest civilisations in the Mediterranean. The Tombs of the Kings are a series of underground chambers and tombs from the Roman era that were revealed from beneath the surface many years ago.

Take a trip to Aphrodite's Rock, a beautiful spot dedicated to the Greek goddess of love and beauty. Aphrodite is said to have been born of the sea foam in Paphos. Swim around the rock three times, and according to ancient mythology, you will be blessed with eternal youth, beauty, fertility, good fortune and true love. However, the sea here is rough - a pilgrimage to see Aphrodite's Rock from the beach is a lovely idea.

Nicosia - Europe's last divided capital - is a fascinating city, split between Greek and Turkish Cypriots. Its delightful Old Town has ancient city walls and the city is full of important and quirky museums. From Cyprus Museum, featuring an impressive collection of archaeological finds to the Museum of Shipwrecks, it's perfect for a cultural day trip.

There are so many Cypriot delicacies to try all over the island - start with a traditional meze platter. This way, you can try out many different local dishes and dips such as tahini, taramosalata and skordalia. Of course, Cyprus is the home of delicious halloumi, grilled and served with pitta bread, salad and a side of hummus. For dessert, tuck into some syrupy baklava.
