Villa Silene

The famed island of Es Vedra is only 30 minutes away by car and boat and is a must-visit while in Ibiza. The mesmerising island sits at nearly 400 metres high. The rock island is uninhabited and made up of limestone.

Es Vedra is one of Ibiza’s main attractions and even acted as the volcanic island Bali Hai in 50s film, South Pacific. A popular myth is that the island is the third most magnetic spot on earth after the north pole and the Bermuda Triangle but this has yet to be proven.

Another legend that follows the captivating island is that a giant sea monster lives in its surrounding waters and it used to attack any incoming boats. However, even without legends Es Vedra is a dazzling beauty and provides a revitalising walk in nature.

The island is home to hundreds of exotic plant species as well as lizards and gulls, all of this wildlife can be admired while walking up to the highest point. Although the legends aren’t true, the island definitely has a magical ambience that pulls people in and keeps them coming back to visit it.

The vistas from up top are utterly spellbinding and sometimes you can spot dolphins playfully swimming in the waters below. There are plenty of paths waiting to be discovered, each with their own lovely array of nature to explore.
